Feature: January is Stalking Awareness Month
Some 8 percent of women and 2 percent of men say that someone has stalked them at some time in their lives. Adults between 18 and 29 years old are the primary victims of stalking, comprising 52 percent of all cases.
Fewer than half of all stalking victims are explicitly threatened by their stalkers. Still, about half of all stalking victims report their stalkers to the police, and about a quarter of those cases result in suspects being arrested.
The average stalking case lasts almost two years. Nearly a fifth of all stalking victims move to new locations to escape their stalkers.
